swell is one of those bands that it seems hardly anyone has heard of and it doesn't make sense. the instant i heard this song i became infatuated. i especially like the production on their recordings, which i believe were done in their home studio in san francisco. the albums i would recommend are "well", "41" & "too many days without thinking". they also have some really good singles from the same era.

here's some great stuff from the late 80s - mid 90s SF scene. i'm not usually too impressed by "novelty" bands, but when the music is strong it can sometimes add to the presentation. check out you must fight to live on the planet of the apes as well as the public access video of the mummies covering devo's uncontrollable urge.

pop punk. what a horrible phrase. but i remember a time when that wasn't so. i don't know how i'd feel about all if i heard them for the first time today. i can tell you the first time i did actually hear them, i was blown away.

well the drop nineteens were from boston. "winona" is from their 1992 album "deleware". i've been a fan of this album since it came ot, but never cared much for what came after. of course it's been along time since i tried.

this is my favorite slant 6 song. it's off their second album "inzombia", but if you want a real treat get "soda pop * rip off". they're both on discord and very are very good albums. they also do a great "rebel rebel" cover, which is adapted as a homeage to a cat. thats on a split 7" with the make up. listen

the buzzcocks - ever fallen in love

perhaps it's the obvious choice, but when dealing with the buzzcocks i always refer first to this song. they have tons of other great ones, but for me it doesn't get any better than this. listen

well, the issue with the site that was hosting my mp3s still has not been reloved. instead, i have found a new host and i will resume with new posta immediately. unfortunately, all the old posts link to the cripled host and are not working and it seems unlikely that i will have the time to upload all the old songs and update the links, although i have not ruled that out. hopefully the old host will come back up, but let's not hold our breath. in the meantime if you have any particular posts you'd like me to redo just let me know, i'd be happy to do so.

you will also notice that i have added a "listen" link at the end of the post. this is because the new host is set up to automatically download the song when you click the title link. the listen link will redirect you to a browser window that will allow you to listen to the file as a stream without downloading the file locally.

i remember once in school we got eric's trip to come and appear on our radio staion. the lady from sub pop that came with them was kind of a bitch and one of the member's girlfriends had a scandalously short skirt. besides these memories, i can say they put out great albums and you should know that.

you might be asking: "didn't ted already post some sebadoh? has he run out of ideas?". the answers follow: "yes" and "hells no!". when i heard "brand new love" today, i could not resist posting it. oh yeah this ain't the "freed weed" version (although that's quite good too!). it's from "sebadoh vs. helmet" or "smash your head on the punk rock", depending on your country (if you're obsessed with getting everything, may i suggest skipping "smash yr" and pick up the 2 u.k. albums that were compiled for that release).
